We also have wooden bird houses we use for our Bluebirds, but the house wren is probably your best bet. They are often seen as “unwanted” due to their behavior towards other nesting songbirds. Although pleasant to listen to, they are considered pests where I live. Be sure to thoroughly wash your hands after tearing out nests. Parasitic mites still live in nests even long after the birds have left.

Last spring, we thought a pair of birds had nested there (usually bluebirds but not sure they were last year). The best was then not lived in but birds stuffed sticks into the house right up to the opening. My husband just went out to clean it up and there was a nest in the bottom with an egg that did not hatch. Anyone ever see this behavior?
