Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) of Arizona Field Ornithologists & Western Bird Banding Association
September 26, 2024 – September 29, 2024
Join Arizona Field Ornithologists and Western Bird Banding Association as we share our knowledge, experience, and passion for bird conservation. AZFO & WBBA will be holding a joint annual meeting (JAM) September 26–29 for a four-day convention in Tucson, Arizona. Open to non-members, our theme is “Birds without Borders” with presentations about the latest avian monitoring technology and conservation science. AZFO will be hosting mini field expeditions and bird ID workshops during peak fall migration in the Tucson and surrounding area, and WBBA will be providing live bird-banding demonstrations. There will be poster sessions, social meetups, raffles, bird trivia, and audio contests. The Saturday night banquet will feature keynote speaker Richard Fischer, PhD CWB, the Research Wildlife Biologist and Lead for USACE Threatened and Endangered Species Team, and National Coordinator for the Department of Defense Partners in Flight. This will be the opportune event for networking, learning, and developing. Youth scholarships for attendance are available.
Arizona Field Ornithologists (AZFO) is an organization of birders and ornithologists dedicated to increasing the knowledge of the changing status, identification, and distribution of Arizona’s birdlife.
The Western Bird Banding Association (WBBA) is a registered, nonprofit organization of ornithologists and naturalists focused on ecological research through the study of banded birds—one of three such regional bird-banding associations in the US. Founded in 1925 to provide structure to the novel technique of banding birds, WBBA has played an important role throughout the history of American ornithology.
