Fort Morgan Bird Banding Event

September 27, 2024 @ 8:00 am October 5, 2024 @ 3:00 pm

Get an up-close experience viewing wildbirds as they are banded by federally-licensed experts! Fall migrating birds will be safely captured in fine nets, then brought to the main tent to measure, weigh, and band, while visitors look on. Some birds are briefly presented for guests to see and photograph, while the Banding Coalition of the Americas‘ volunteers share species details and answer questions from guests. The birds are safely released to complete their journey.

This event itself is free and open to the public, however, donations to BCA will be gratefully accepted onsite. Note: There is a fee to enter the Fort Morgan Historic site. Please stop at the entry shack to pay and follow directions to the park, then follow signs on foot to banding station. See their website for fees.

What to bring: Easy carry folding chair, bug repellent, water to drink, food/snacks, sunscreen, sun hat, rain gear (if needed), and camera!

For more information, see the BCA website or Facebook page.
