Western Field Ornithologist Conference

October 9, 2024 October 13, 2024

Join us from October 9 to 13, 2024, at The Dana for the 47th Annual WFO Conference. The hotel location, on Mission Bay, affords birding opportunities within easy walking distance. With over 525 species recorded in San Diego County, you will not want to miss this event!

WFO will offer a robust program.

  • Diverse field trips to explore rocky shorelines, estuaries, coastal canyons, and deserts.
  • Pelagic trips.
  • A special reception at the San Diego Natural History Museum.
  • An array of educational workshops, ID panels, and scientific programs.

Participants at our last conference in San Diego, in 2014, observed 285 species in San Diego County and 300 overall. Let’s see if we can break that record in October!

The theme bird for the 2024 conference is the Light-footed Ridgway’s Rail. It will be featured in the science sessions and on field trips. Look for more information on the conference program and hotel reservations soon.
